Missing Molly

I feel like such a terrible cat-parent. Molly, my oldest female, is missing. When I come home from work at night, I go in and set my stuff down. Then Allie and I head to the mailbox. I usually don't shut the carport door all the way, mostly because I'm afraid of locking myself out. Molly and Rodney are the worst culprits, but someone always seems to open the door, and one or two of the cats will go out in the carport.

I remember this happening on Saturday or Sunday night. I know it wasn't on Monday, because I got home around 5:30 and was asleep by 7:30. I don't remember seeing Molly on Tuesday, and it was yesterday before I realized she wasn't here. I honestly can't remember the last time I did see her. But I'm thinking it was on Saturday before I went to work when I was in the basement working on my supplies for Art & Soul. If I leave the door open, she will come downstairs.

I've checked the neighborhood. Driven around a bit on the highway in front of my subdivision, checking alongside the roadway. I've called her. I've driven out to Animal Control to see if they've picked her up. I made up a poster and took it to the vet's office at the entrance to my subdivision. I will swing back by Animal Control today with a poster, on my way to work. Cynthia and a friend are going to check the woods this afternoon.

She is about twelve years old, and I've had her for eleven. Someone abandoned her and seven kittens at the High School one night. One of the officers brought them in and called Animal Control. When they didn't show up by lunchtime, I took them home. She was the sweetest thing, purring at me and talking to me on the first day. One of the kittens was not part of the litter. He was bigger and fuzzier. But she nursed him with the others. I found homes for all but three of the kittens, and those three are still with me. In addition to my two boys that I already had at the time.

Sometimes having six cats is a pain in the butt, and they drive me nuts. But I wouldn't take anything for any of them. I'm hoping and praying that she will find her way home. Soon!
