If These Things Come in Three's...

I am ready to throw in the towel. First of all, Molly has not come home. I really miss her not being on the counter when I get home.

Then, last Saturday, the lady backed into me. I was not able to get an estimate on the damage, so my plan to get my car painted while I'm at Art & Soul had to be put on hold.

I went to get my camera out the other night to take a picture of my cat Callie doing something really cute, and the shutter wouldn't open. Apparently, when it spilled out of it's case in my patrol car the other night, it dented the thing that rings it. So I took it to the camera shop. $160 to repair it, or $169 to buy a new one. So I got a new one, and this time, I got the no-fault repair warranty.

I had to put my old friend Jake to sleep yesterday morning. I had noticed this past week that he hadn't been his usual self. He hadn't gotten into the living room and yelled for me to let him out. He hadn't been yelling at me because he could see the bottom of the food bowl. Last week, he had gotten up on the kitchen counter and pawed at the cursor on my laptop. I picked him up on Monday, and he was very lethargic. I put him on my bed, and he didn't purr when Cynthia or I petted him and he had a bloody nose. He didn't move much, and then he pee-d on the bed yesterday morning. He rallied a bit when he got up off the bed and went to the kitchen to get some water, but he sounded so pitiful. So I took him to the vet. I know it was the right thing to do, but it was so hard to do. I will miss him. He was 16.

And lastly, I had to go to court yesterday for work. Since departmental policy says that you will take your patrol car in if you are going to be off for a week or longer, I drove it up to the station. It needs servicing anyway, and the body shop guy is going to take the dent out of the fender. While it is there, I figured I would have the custodian, Mr. Baker, have the prisoners detail the inside. No biggie. So I'm sitting in court, listening to the cases, when one of the other officers comes in and tells me that Mr. Baker has backed my car into a post. He didn't know how much damage was done. I just sat there and laughed since I was all cried out for the day. Fortunately, there was no damage.

So that makes five things. What will number six be?
