Weekend Recap

Pam and I left Lawrenceville a few minutes after 10 o'clock on Friday morning, for a visit with our dear friend, Kathy McElroy. As planned, we stopped at Sam Flax in Atlanta to buy a few things for Kathy, and some envelopes for Vicki. Then we swung by Archiver's in Kennesaw. We were just exiting to go there when Mary Jane called to tell me that the Buford store had gotten in some of the unmounted Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz stamps. OMG! My favorite company of all time! Well, they didn't have them at the Kennesaw store, which wasn't a bad thing. We hadn't even gotten out of metro Atlanta yet!

So we continued on. Stopped for a bite of lunch, and got to Kathy's about 4 o'clock (Atlanta time). Then we gabbed, had a few Smirnoff Ice's, and gabbed some more, into the wee hours.

We got up bright and early on Saturday morning and headed to Huntsville for "Simply Southern". Kathy said it was smaller than it was when it was in Nashville - which is also not a bad thing. There we met up with fellow diva artists Shirley McCutcheon and Leslie Wood. We walked and walked and looked and looked. And bought and bought. I had given Pam explicit instructions to smack me if I bought anything I didn't need and couldn't easily find in Atlanta. She didn't have to smack me. I was actually pretty good. I took cash and I still had quite a bit left over. But that didn't last too long.

Our next stop was a leisurely lunch at Panera, followed by a quick stop at the Rubber Stamp Lady. Although we were forewarned, and this is a GREAT scrapbook store, I was disappointed to find that I have more rubber stamps sitting on my table waiting to be put away than she had in the store. I did however, find a very cool Post Modern Design sentiment for $1.95, and some cool chipboard and Paris stickers.

Then we went to the junk store... OMG! I spent $25 on JUNK! Cool Junk!!! I'm gonna try my hand at junk art dolls of the sort that Kathy and Leslie are making. I know mine won't be nearly as gorgeous as theirs are!

At that point, we were exhausted so we headed back to Kathy's. We gabbed some more, made paper Eiffel Towers (very cool!), and had some more Smirnoff Ice.

We got up yesterday morning, and after a leisurely morning, Pam and I hit the road around 11 o'clock (our time). We decided that we wanted to go to the Mall of Georgia Archiver's store and check out those Tim Holtz stamps. I already have at least one of the stamps of most of the sheets as a wood-mount, so I managed to escape unscathed.

Then we had lunch/dinner at Noodle Mi before Pam dropped me back off at the office to retrieve my car. When I got home, no one was there and of course, no effort had been made by anyone to be somewhat neat while I was gone. But at least my bedroom had been left alone. LOL! So I retreated there to put my things away and veg in front of the television.

This week is gonna be a killer! This will be the first FULL week I've actually worked since the last week of August.... But at least I have lots of fond memories of spending time with my friends to get me through!

Other notes:

My neighbor called while I was gone because we didn't have any water and she wanted to make sure it wasn't just her. Turns out it was a water-main break, but she told Cynthia that her husband had died about 2 months ago! I didn't KNOW! I knew I hadn't seen him, but it's been so hot, and they are elderly... It's sad. They are such nice people.

My stitches came out today! Woo Hoo! It was actually so aggravating. I meant to stop by the E/R on my way to work this morning, but I woke up late. I should've gone anyway, as they were swamped at 10:30! About 11, I told the lady I was gonna leave and come back later, but someone called me back in from the parking lot and said, "It won't take but a minute!" Another HOUR later, they FINALLY took 'em out. I was on the verge of saying, "Hand me some scissors, please. I'll do it myself!"

Cynthia informed me that I have a major flea infestation downstairs! YUCK! I've called the exterminator, but I can't figure out how they got down there. Allie doesn't go down with me much anymore, and the cats aren't allowed down there. We have had a problem with the this year, and Frontline doesn't seem to be working. Sigh! It's always something!

I loved reading your synopsis of the weekend. You are a better writer than me. I had such a wonderful, fun time with you gals. I can't wait for our next get together. Show me your junk art doll when you get her done. Beware, they are addicting. I hope work isn't too bad this week. Thanks for being such a good friend.
