My Thought Process

I went downstairs yesterday evening to ride my stationary bike, and to work on my Hampton stuff. After I did 7 miles, I was feeling kinda tired, yet invigorated. I walked over to take a look and my Hampton stamps, and was TOTALLY UN-inspired. I reached over and grabbed the "Travel Collage". I thought, okay, I'll just emboss it and see what happens. So I debated on color. Since a real passport is blue, I chose blue embossing powder. Then I decided to stamp it again, and cut out the lady and mount her on foam tape to pop her out. So I dug out the watercolor pencils. I thought, I'd like to make her under-shirt yellow. Don't know why, just sounded good. Then I grabbed a blue pencil. Sounds good with the blue embossing powder. So I colored her and cut her out. Then I decided that I didn't like all the white of the paper in the background of the embossed image, so I stippled a little Antique Linen ink around the edges. And since I had used yellow on her top, I got out a yellow piece of cardstock and cut a layer.

Now I needed some background paper, and since I used blue embossing powder, I wanted a blue print. I looked in a drawer and found a stack of coordinated 6"x6" scrapbook paper. I grabbed my cut-out lady, who I hadn't glued down yet, to decide which paper to use. All of a sudden, I decided that I liked her cut out like that with the paper. So I stamped her again, and grabbed a different piece of background paper to make the second card. But she sorta got lost in the pattern, so I cut out a square of green to mount her on. Then I decided her hat needed a flower. And viola!

I think you've given her character. I'm always afraid to fool with collage-y stamps and you've made good examples of how to go beyond mere coloring.

I like both versions, Darya. They are similar, but still very different. You make beautiful cards! Your layering technique is a style all your own!
