Today is my Friday and nothing very exciting has happened this week. I arrested a guy for forging prescriptions. Got points for handling it start to finish by myself, and investigating a little further to make sure I have a good case.
I only have 2 days left on Day Watch, and I am grateful. This getting up BEFORE the worms sucks. I have managed to get up before the alarm went off every day since day 3, but I'm ready for it to end.
We were pretty steady today, after the first two hours. Just piddly stuff, but I like being busy a whole lot better than trying to find something to do. And why is it that you never see a blatant traffic violation until you are either on your way to another call, or have a prisoner in the back seat? I was on the way to another call today when a lady ran a red light, right in front of me. Fortunately, the call I was on the way to was very low on the priority scale, so I was able to stop her, remove her head from her ass, and write her a ticket.
Today was the City's annual Employee Appreciation Picnic. I have been on the committee for 12 years, and I decided to stay on it, even after relinquishing my secretarial duties. But they put me on Days, and I wasn't able to participate like I usually do. We were able to stop by for lunch, but it was hotter than Hades out there, and I welcomed the return to my air-conditioned patrol car. There was a nice breeze blowing, but today's high was in the low 90's, with fairly low humidity.
We got back in the car and I decided on a potty-break. Boy, am I glad I did! I had just gotten back in the car when they told us to go work traffic control for a working fire. We had to close off the roadway so they could run the hose across the street. We were far enough away from the fire that we didn't feel the heat from it. But my car began to overheat, so we had to turn it off - there goes the A/C! - and pray that the breeze kept up. That same breeze kept the smoke away also. We were out there for 2 hours before Evening Watch relieved us. And not a minute too soon. I think I was about to overheat, despite the Gatorade a nice citizen brought us.

They are certainly keeping you busy.
