Ormond Beach, Florida

I'm back from vacation, toting a really bad case of ass-fatigue. We literally didn't do anything. That kind of vacation is good for the soul once in a while, but awfully hard on the buttocks.

I went with my mother, my brother, his wife, and my 2-year-old niece, Olivia. She is a cutie, but she is spoiled rotten! I'm not used to 2-year-olds anymore, but I managed to survive. It took her about 4 days to warm up to me, since she doesn't see me very often. But she is very much a mama's girl.

Everyone is still speaking to each other. But I've had enough family-time to last me until Thanksgiving!

We went to the pool and the beach. Played in the ocean a bit. Had to go get new sunglasses. You know, the usual vacation stuff. Regarding the sunglasses.... I was jumping waves on Thursday morning, when the ocean decided to play rough. I looked up and here came a BIG one! I said, "Oh S#$%!," and reached up to hold my nose, put my other hand on my $2 headband, and didn't hang on to my prescription sunglasses. I think they heard me cussing down at Daytona. So an hour or so later, when the sun got too hot to bear, we headed to the mall and Lenscrafters
so I could get a new pair. The pair that the fish are now wearing were my OLD prescription, and I'm not eligible to have my eyes checked again until next month. Doesn't that just figure!?! So I got them made in my current prescription and they'll just have to last. The advantage is that now I can see what my iPod and cellphone say while I'm driving down the road.

Otherwise, not much eventful happened. We left yesterday morning at 8am. When traveling with a toddler and a granny, you have to make more frequent stops. Plus I was driving my mom's car. While much newer than mine, I don't think it's as comfortable. She has a Mercury Grand Marquis. I do know that when I get a new car, I don't want leather seats. Ugh! And her seats aren't as deep as mine, so my legs weren't supported like I'm used to . She also had so much stuff in the car that the seat wouldn't go back further than allowing my right knee to brush the dashboard. So I couldn't really stretch my driving leg. But like I say, I now know what I definitely want and don't want when I buy a new car in a couple years.

We made GREAT time until we got about 40 miles south of Atlanta. Then the inbound traffic came to a complete stop. So we got off the interstate for a bite, and by the time we were ready to hit it again, it was clear sailing through Atlanta. In the meantime, I had called my dad and asked him to meet me at my brother's house with my car, hoping to shave an hour off my drive home. My mom lives about an hour from me, and about 30 minutes off the interstate. My brother lives about 15 from her, and right near the interstate. Well, don't you know that shortly after we passed her exit, traffic came to a complete stand-still again! So my hour was completely lost! It would probably have been faster to take her home and get my car. THEN, when I left my brother's - noting as we worked our way north, that southbound traffic was clear and planning to "put it in the wind" - southbound traffic had gotten crapped up! Ugh! I couldn't win for losing! So, 13 hours after we left the beach, I finally made it home.

And naturally, my house was nowhere near as clean as I left it! It wasn't as bad as I expected, but I spent this morning wiping down cabinets, mopping floors, and cleaning my bathroom. Grrr!

I do have a few photos of my cutie-pie niece. But I have to get someone in CID to get the pictures off my camera for me. (My computer doesn't like the camera.) So I will post them on Monday!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend! "Talk" to you all on Monday!

Welcome home, Darya. As frustrating as the trip back was, it sounds like you might need a vacation from your vacation.
