Bird-Brain!

Okay, I have to admit that I am a big ole doofus.... And when I tell you what I did, you're gonna have to agree.

First off, one of my pet-peeves is when the guys go to training and forget to take the tax-exempt forms for their hotel with them. They call me, and I fax them to them. It's not really a big deal, just a pain in the rump. Well, guess what I forgot to take with me on Wednesday when I went to my conference??? You got it! The tax forms. This time, for the first time ever, I didn't request an advance check for my hotel from City Hall before I went. I just put it on my American Express, and asked for reimbursement. I'm sure that's what happened. I changed my routine. I can never say another word when someone else forgets. Fortunately, Denise had a set and was able to send them to me.

The second thing I did was REALLY stupid. I met Jodie from the Sheriff's Department over at the jail on Wednesday morning, and I rode up with her. I got there a few minutes before her. Well, we were later getting back on Friday than I had thought we'd be. We got lost up in Gainesville - unfamiliar territory for both of us. Fortunately, Ray in Dispatch knew exactly where we were and got us turned around. Whew! Anyway, as we approached the turn for the jail, I decided to dig my keys out of my purse. Except... they weren't there! I said, "Okay, they've got to be in my green tote bag in the back of the car with my iPod." Nope. Not there either! Now I'm really feeling stupid. Cynthia had called me a little earlier and said that she had locked her keys in her car at the bank. Her dad - believe it or not - sent someone to help her out, and even showed up himself. I'm thinking I'm NEVER gonna hear the end of it if I've done it on the same day. Well, I had indeed left my keys in my car. They were laying on the front seat, in full view of anyone passing by. Here's the kicker.... I left my doors UNLOCKED! For two days. At the JAIL! Nice one! At least I didn't have to call someone to come open it for me. Better yet, at least I still had a car!

Loved hearing your stories. We've all done stuff like that from time to time so your not alone in that deprartment. I'm glad your car was still there.
